TypePad

It is always a good decision to move a blog to your own hosting as on your own web hosting you will have your own control panel and you can access all the features which a free hosting can’t provide you. For some it may seem difficult to move their blog to their own hosting from the free host, but in actual it is not so.

Below are the steps for transferring your TypePad blog to your own hosting from free blog hosting sites like TypePad, Blogger, WordPress, etc…

Step 1: Prepare for the migration

Load few HTML and php pages to make sure that the hosting is steady.

Step 2: Install Blog Software on Your Hosting Account

You can install preferred blog software, as supported by your web host, but we’ll recommend WordPress as it’s the best platform for beginners as well as experienced users. Customize it with desired look and plugins, and don’t forget to take the backup of your installation, as in case of any uncertainty, you should not redo the things.

Step 3: Export Your Data Directly From Your TypePad Control Panel

  • Login to TypePad > Weblogs > Manage > Import/Export
  • At the bottom of the page, find the “Export: Your-Blog-Name” link. Download it and save on your desktop with a .txt extension.
